LIVING WALLS
Adorn your home with botanical brilliance
The London-based decorative painter Flora Roberts creates magnificent flower murals, fabrics and wallpapers. ‘I love drawing blooms from life, which I collect from the countryside,’ she says, citing roses and Japanese alliums as particular favourites. She has collaborated with fashion brands and interior designers alike, from Paul & Joe and Mulberry to Flora Soames and Octavia Dickinson. Most recently, she has launched a collection of wallpapers with Hamilton Weston, featuring garland patterns and a midnight garden scene inspired by John Singer Sargent. Roberts references the aesthetics of the early-20th-century Ballets Russes and the work of the Bloomsbury Group as key influences – especially the art of the Edwardian painter Winifred Nicholson, to whom she is distantly related. ‘I tend to look to the past,’ she says, ‘I like the idea of twisting something that already exists and making something original.’ bt www.floraroberts.co.uk
