Local farm banger wins gold!

-

THE ‘Boozy Banger’ sausage from Canalside Farm won a gold award at the recent Staffordshire Winter Fair.

It was created by head butcher Tom Lea, made using Packington free-range pork and the farm’s own Canalside Ale, brewed locally by Slaters Ales.

The team of butchers also won silver awards for their Hog Roast Banger and Firecracker Sausage.

Since opening its Farm Shop eight years ago, the farm has had its own on-site butchers which has been extremely successful.

Farm owner Chris Barton said: “We are absolutely delighted to win this award and extremely proud of our team of butchers. They make all of our meat products here on the premises, with free-range pork and meat from trusted sources, so that we can maintain control over the content.

“They are always listening to our customers and developing new products, including their very own range of burgers, faggots, meat balls, pork pies and over 15 different varieties of sausage!”

The butchery also supplies their Canalside Café, which overlooks the Trent and Mersey Canal, providing stunning views and a relaxing place to unwind.

All of the food is sourced locally, as well as using fruit and vegetables fresh from the farm.

Tom Lea added: “We love to develop different products for our customers as we realise that people are very busy and want to buy quality meat in a quick and simple way.”

The Farm Shop and Café are open every day from 9am to 5pm and are located in Great Haywood, six miles outside Stafford. They are situated just off the A51, between Stone and Rugeley, or can be accessed via the A518 from Stafford, turning right to Great Haywood (postcode ST18 0RQ).
