Waterpride Estates takes over New Islington Marina

-

FOLLOWING the success of the refurbishment of Lady Lane Wharf, Waterpride Estates is expanding its canal mooring offering with the takeover of New Islington Marina.

The marina comprises two basins which connect the Rochdale and Ashton canals. Located in the northern quarter of Manchester, it has been the focus of a serious regeneration of the area in recent years.

An ‘urban oasis’ marrying Manchester’s industrial heritage with its vibrant future, the marina is currently licensed for 49 berths, comprising 33 residential, six leisure and 10 visitor.

Waterpride Estates hopes to bring its expertise in canal moorings to New Islington Marina, to offer the best mooring experience possible. Facilities for moorers include WCs, showers, laundry, lockable post boxes and a lobby area with a wood burning stove included within a ‘boater’s hut’.

Robert Hutton, director of Waterpride Estates, said: “We are extremely pleased to be expanding our mooring offering with New Islington Marina. It is an exciting opportunity to manage a wonderful marina in an amazing city centre location. We intend to invest in the marina and its facilities to the benefit of moorers and the surrounding community.”

The company seeks to keep the community alive at New Islington, with residential and visitor moorings in harmony with the surrounding area.

Waterpride Estates is proud to be 100% carbon neutral. All consumption is compensated by The Waterpride Hydropower Station, which generates enough energy to completely offset what is used at the moorings and deliver a surplus to the national grid.
