Green theme for restoration conference
THE 2021 Annual Waterway Restoration Conference will take the form of a webinar on Saturday, October 16 from 9.45am-1pm.
Jointly organised by the Inland Waterways Association and Canal & River Trust, it will look at how we, as a sector, can work in a greener way.
In the first session on the theme of Working Together, keynote speaker Johnathan Austin, senior team leader and project executive for river and asset regulation with the Environment Agency, will outline its priorities going forward.
Kate Jeffreys, a director at Geckoella and Historic England researcher, will then look at Heritage and Biodiversity Conservation and in the third session
IWA’s environmental advisor John Pomfret’s theme will be How green is our sector?
He will then be joined by a panel of experts for the Big Green Conversation – a discussion and question and answer session – including: Anna Tarbet, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust; David Barnes, Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal Society; Kate Jeffreys; Stuart Moodie, CRT heritage and environment team manager; Darren Leftley, CRT head of water development, investment and commercial and Jonathan Mosse, HVO expert with IWA’s Sustainable Boating Group.
