Newry ice boat in Ulster museum

-

IN THE January 2022 issue of Towpath Talk, the Irish Waters pages featured the story of the Newry ice boat in Ice Cold in Ulster.

Since then, Clare Ablett of National Museums Northern Ireland (NMNI) has been in contact, confirming that there is an ice boat in their collection at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum but very little is known about it. The ice boat is currently being stored in the museum workshop as the maritime collection is being moved so is not available for public viewing; however, the museum very kindly provided images of the craft.
