Sponsored boat haul along Worcester & Birmingham Canal
A TEAM of boat haulers from the Worcester Birmingham & Droitwich Canals Society will be pulling on the ropes of the society’s community narrowboat Cecilia to raise money towards its upkeep.
The engine will be switched off for the whole trip using muscle power only from Alvechurch Bridge 60 to Hopwood House Bridge 67 on the Worcester & Birmingham Canal on Saturday, April 9, starting at 11am. Alvechurch Choir will be making a guest appearance at the start and finish of this epic journey.
All money raised will be for funding the 70ft community narrowboat Cecilia which costs a lot of money to run and keep in good condition. It is there for use by any groups, societies or charitable organisations and for people who can’t afford to pay for regular canal boat trips.
Volunteers can be sponsored at the Worcester Birmingham & Droitwich Canal Society's Just Giving page or by cash or cheque or by bank transfer. Cheques made payable to The Worcester Birmingham & Droitwich Canals Society and posted to the treasurer; email: contact@wbdcs.org.uk for address and for more information visit www.wbdcs.org.uk
