Canal and Riverside Pub Guide updated for summer

-

PART of the culture of the waterways at the end of the boating day is to visit the pub.

Nowadays this covers old-fashioned beer drinking establishments and the relatively new micropubs, some providing simple pub food compared with those that are deemed ‘gastro’ pubs.

John Glock, a keen boater, boat owner and traveller over parts of the country for years, has been capturing and tracking these changes and has produced a website which allows changes to be made quite easily and promptly.

The guide, which covers navigable canals and rivers of England and Wales, has now reached a stage that it rivals anything else focused on the waterway pubs, John says.

He hopes greater awareness of the guide will add to the feedback already received to help keep information on all areas of the country current and for the benefit of all.

John adds that it’s a hobby site so there are no financial overtones and it provides a great reference for personal boating and visits as well as for anyone who wishes to use the information.
