Towpath Talk

Challenge yourself

-

WITH 137 miles of canal in Scotland, there’s always something to see and do. Scotland’s canals are officially recognised ancient monuments and are a fascinating mix of old and new.

You can walk the towpath in three of Scotland’s cities: Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness, enjoy the countryside of the Lowland canals, the remote peace of the beautiful Crinan and the remote and rugged views of water and some of Scotland’s highest mountains on the Caledonian.

The Monkland Canal, while no longer open to navigation, winds through Drumpellier Country Park south-east of Glasgow.

If challenges whet your appetite, join Scottish Canals’ #CanalChallenge200. Set yourself a challenge which incorporates 200 or takes place on the Union or Caledonian Canals, share it with Scottish Canals and receive a limited edition 200th anniversary medal on completion of your goal.

There are also 200 dog rosettes up for grabs if your canine companion takes part too. Find information and the registration form at scottishcanals. co.uk/canal-challenge-200-2/.
