IWAI names 20th president
THE Inland Waterways Association of Ireland (IWAI) recently announced that its 20th president is Ms Kay Baxter.
She has served on the association’s executive for a number of years, taking on the roles of honorary secretary and vice-president and is a member of the IWAI Boyle River branch.
IWAI Boyle River, formed in 2008, is one of the smaller branches of the association and Ms Baxter’s appointment will provide the beautiful Boyle waters, which includes the majestic Lough Key, with some welldeserved recognition.
The new president is looking forward to the day-to-day challenge of the role, has a keen interest in promoting the publicity of Ireland’s inland waterways to a wider audience and in supporting those IWAI branches working towards the restoration of lost routes.
