Young Scots get new opportunities on the canals

-

SCOTTISH Canals and Young Scot have signed a new partnership to give Young Scot National Entitlement Card (NEC) holders exclusive discounts, rewards and opportunities on Scotland’s canals.

The agreement was signed by Catherine Topley, Scottish Canals’ CEO, and Young Scot’s CEO Kirsten Urquhart at the recent Revolution Festival to celebrate the Falkirk Wheel’s 20th anniversary. The partnership is designed to encourage and engage young people to make sure that the canals are accessible, exciting, and enjoyable for them.

The organisations will this year work together to recruit a panel of young people from throughout Scotland to a new Scottish Canals’ Youth Panel, which will explore the future of the canal network.

Young Scot is Scotland’s national youth information and citizenship charity, providing support and services for young people together with discounts and rewards. The card is free of charge to 11 to 26-yearolds living in Scotland. Keep an eye on young. scot/ get- involved for information about the new Youth Panel.

The fun-filled, familyorientated Revolution Festival marked 20 years since the Union and Forth & Clyde Canals were reconnected via the Falkirk Wheel, as part of Scotland’s Millennium Project.
