-

IMAGES of Ireland’s beautiful coastline and countryside were recently beamed into homes across Britain in a new More4 series called Ireland: Coast & Country.

The three-part series, produced by Alfro-Mic productions, a Belfast production company, and supported by tourism Ireland, follows various personalities from across the island of Ireland offering viewers the chance to learn about their daily activities and lifestyles and to see the spectacular landscape.

Characters featured in the series include a wild ocean photographer in Co Clare, Ireland’s first and only vermouth makers on Valentia Island, a lighthouse keeper on Rathlin Island, a goat herder in Howth, as well as three mountain climbers – all more than 70 years old – exploring the Wicklow Mountains.

Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland’s head of Great Britain, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to support the production of this new three-part TV series, Ireland: Coast & Country. With a large audience right across Britain set to watch the series on More4, it’s a great way to shine a spotlight on the island of Ireland – highlighting our spectacular coastline and countryside, our wonderful people and some of the fantastic experiences on offer here. It will remind British viewers why Ireland is a great choice for a holiday.

“Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity, to encourage travellers in Britain to put the island of Ireland on their holiday wish-list.”

Ireland: Coast & Country from More4 is available to watch on demand.
