Get involved – work party dates

PLEASE contact the branch to register an interest if you would like to attend one of these work parties. It is advisable to wear stout shoes, old clothing and take a waterproof. You may also want to take a packed lunch and any refreshmen­ts.

NORTH WEST

Monday October 17

IWA North Staffordsh­ire & South Cheshire Branch and Caldon & Uttoxeter Canals Trust: Monthly work party on the Uttoxeter Canal working between Alton and Crumpwood. 10am-4pm. This month we will be working at the Alton end of the length. The meeting point is close to Alton Station on Farley Lane, close to Alton Towers. For those using sat nav, use ST10 4BY. The work site is a short walk from this spot. The What3Words location for the parking/meeting location is ///adapt.overdone.grow There is a parking area down a track parallel to the railway, opposite the station. Please do not block the parking at the station, which is used by Landmark Trust guests. All tools and equipment will be provided. Volunteers are advised to wear old clothes, stout shoes and to bring waterproof­s in case of rain and a packed lunch if staying all day. As we are pulling up Himalayan balsam, long trousers and long sleeves are also advisable to avoid nettle stings. EAST

Sunday October 2 and Tuesday October 18

IWA Northampto­n Branch: Work parties are usually held one weekday and one Sunday a month, along the Arm, 10am-2pm. The tasks usually include vegetation clearance, weeding, litter picking and painting at locks. Contact Geoff Wood geoff. wood@waterways.org.uk
