Santa Specials on the Chesterfield Canal
Dates for the four boats are as follows:
John Varley II from Tapton Lock – November 26-27; December 3-4, 10-11, 17-18 and 22-23.
Madeline from Hollingwood Hub – December 3-4, 10-11 and 17-18.
Hugh Henshall from Shireoaks Top Lock –December 3-4, 10-11, 17-18 and 22-23. Seth Ellis from the Chequers Inn at Ranby –December 3-4, 10-11, 17-18 and 22-23.
ONLINE bookings have opened for Chesterfield Canal Trust’s popular Santa Special cruises which start in late November.
Publicity officer Rod Auton said: “This might seem a bit early to be thinking about Christmas, but well over 100 seats were booked in the first 24 hours. If you want to be sure of a place on the date and time of your choice, it is a good idea to book soon.”
Costing £9 per person, there is a present for every child and a mince pie and drink for every adult. Booking is essential. There are links to the booking sites for each boat on the trust’s website – just search for Chesterfield Canal Trust.
The trust is offering cruises on four different boats from four different venues. John Varley ll will be running from Tapton Lock in Chesterfield, Madeline will be operating from Hollingwood Hub in Staveley, Hugh Henshall will be in action from Shireoaks near Worksop and Seth Ellis will be cruising from the Chequers Inn at
Ranby. Last year, the four boats carried more than 2300 passengers.
The trust is expecting a similar number this year, so presents are being wrapped and mulled wine and mince pies are being ordered.
The elves are smartening up their uniforms and Santa himself is practising his steering skills.
