AS THE main 2022 holiday hire season has drawn to a close, here at Drifters we’ve been looking ahead to 2023.

Many of our operators are investing in new boats over the winter and are offering early booking discounts on 2023 holidays. We have also started planning another National Open Day, on Sunday, April 23, offering people the chance to try canal boating for free at a number of our boatyards in England and Wales.

It is vital for our industry that we continue to attract newcomers to our holidays. By giving people the opportunity to have a free skippered trip, we hope they will have the confidence to try a holiday afloat on our beautiful inland waterways. At many of the events, visitors will also have the chance to look around our holidayhire boats to see what it’s like on board.

At our last national open day event held in 2019, more than 2000 people enjoyed a free trip aboard one of our boats at 17 locations. We will publish full details of events shortly, but in the meantime, people can register their interest by signing up for our e-newsletter at www.drifters.co.uk
