With care over your volume and diet, running is of course a great way to lose weight. However,

Robbie Britton cautions: “This is really a question of nutrition, as it’s not the types of runs that matter (although they will have different effects on the body), but how you’re fueling them and how healthy and balanced your diet is around them.

“Consistent, varied training, alongside a healthy and balanced diet will bring about the changes you want, but lighter doesn’t always mean faster and it’s important to look at other measures of health; such as bone health and hormonal changes that can come about through too much weight loss.

“It’s really best to talk to a registered sports dietician for advice and be patient.”
