Muddy marvellous

Four TR readers have been putting the latest Inov-8 kit through its (muddy) paces

To help the four readers we selected for the 2018 Trail Running Ambassador Squad (right), our expert chums at Inov-8 have come up with some great winter running advice about what gear to wear and, more importantly, how to use it.

Our team of testers has coped superbly with the gear so far – one even took it camping – but now winter and the resulting mud is here, how do they need to adapt?

Don't let the good times stop

There’s no escaping the fact that when it comes to off-road running in winter, mud is one of the toughest terrains to deal with. Whether it’s on the trails, the mountains or the fells, mud – especially the thick, gloopy kind – can quickly sap energy from your legs. To stay upright and continue moving as fast as possible, you need running shoes with an aggressively studded outsole for the best possible grip (check out the new Inov-8 Mudclaw 275), but what other tips do the experts at Inov-8 have for beating the mud?
