The Langdale valleys, Cumbria
This outstanding run links the Great Langdale and Little Langdale valleys, making a complete circuit around the rugged outcrops of Side Pike and Lingmoor Fell. Starting from the National Trust’s Great Langdale campsite it climbs steeply through woodland, open hillside and past Blea Tarn to reach the road into Little Langdale. Passing Little Langdale Tarn it winds through woodland and quarries before descending to the base of the Great Langdale valley. The final miles follow the Cumbria Way through fields at the foot of the fells, surrounded by glorious mountain scenery, as you make your way back to the campsite. The National Trust-owned Sticklebarn pub has weekly group runs that are a great way to explore the fells in the company of a local expert.
