A BRIEF HISTORY OF CRAGHOPPERS
1965 Founded in Batley, West Yorkshire by Brian Gaskin and Roy Holmes. Under the name G&H Products, it is one of the first outdoor companies to use nylon in its garments.
1975 G&H is approached by Chris Bonington to supply clothing for the British expedition to Everest’s south-west face.
1976 G&H buys a Hebden Bridge-based trousers-and -breeches-making company called Clarke’s Craghoppers, as the brothers who run the company are retiring. G&H retains the name Craghoppers, and the modern company is born.
1992 Breakthrough System is developed – Craghoppers’ first breathable, waterproof system.
1995 Regatta acquires Craghoppers. A year later the ram’s head logo is introduced, and is nicknamed ‘Mouffie’.
1996 Kiwi trousers are launched.
1999 SolarDry fabrics are launched.
2002 Nosquito insect-repellent fabrics are launched.
2008 Bear Grylls (right) becomes a brand ambassador. Clothing bearing his name becomes a separate range. Gore-Tex is used for the first time.
2011 Craghoppers launches in America.
2014 Partners with Ordnance Survey and the Royal Geographical Society.
2016 Working with Levison Wood.
