leather upper; very light weight; reasonably supportive for this price

the fit is a little loose around the ankle; no rand; others have deep lugs

This boot features on the Duke of Edinburgh’s recommended kit list. It has a leather upper, so you get more durability than with some. The tongue is synthetic textile and there is quite a lot of stitching. There is an AQ waterproof lining and the outsole has small, well-spaced Opti-Studs but they are not very deep. It’s good for £110, but higher-priced boots have even better features. 4/5

It’s available for men in sizes 6-12 and for women in sizes 4-8. The fit is close, neat and precise, being neither too baggy nor too tight and narrow compared to others. The ankle is 1cm lower than some options to allow more freedom of movement, and it fits well. The tongue also fits neatly under the laces. 5/5

The weight and softness of the upper enhances comfort. But this is not quite as comfy around the ankle or under the laces as pricier boots. The upper and sole are more flexible than higher-priced heavier boots, so on rougher ground you do begin to feel the pressure of stones. But you get more stiffness than in some low-priced models. 3/5

I’ve used this boot for trekking over rough and dry paths on Greek mountains as well as in the Lakes. It is acceptable on easier terrain, paths and slopes but it does begin to struggle more than others once the ground becomes rougher, and looser or the mud becomes softer. This is because the outsole has relatively shallow lugs and the upper is not very stiff, so on scrambles your feet have to work quite hard. 3/5

This was the best boot received at this price and compared to some pricier boots it is a better choice for hillwalkers, so value is good. 5/5 An extremely light boot that is great on level paths over hills and moors; but its performance is less good on 4.0/5 more challenging terrain.
