The spikes are 30mm long and well-sharpened to provide secure grip in deeper snow and firmer ice, making these more suitable for steep slopes and complex terrain where pockets of snow and ice collect for longer. It is still a C1-rated crampon so it can be used on 3-4 season boots making it useful for the typically mixed type of terrain found on many mountains in the UK during winter. You get anti-balling plates to prevent snow build-up on the base, although these don’t pop the snow out as well as some. The straps are attached to front and rear cradles to fit a wide range of boots. The slight drawback is the increased weight over others and you don’t get any spikes that are rotated through 90˚ as some others offer.
