AOSTA VALLEY

A stunning valley encompassing the Italian slopes of both Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn (Monte Bianco and Monte Cervino), as well as Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso. It's studded with medieval castles, and the Tour du Monte Rosa is a superb long-distance route that takes in a series of high passes into Switzerland.
