EAT AT THE... EAGLE BARGE INN

Right at the start of the Great Glen Way Ultimate Weekend (Routes 10-12) you’ll find a barge pub-restaurant at Laggan Locks. You’ll need to be prepared though: they only take cash, and you’ll have to pre-book and order your food before 3pm on the day if you want to dine in the evening. But pass it by and you’ll be missing a real treat. With ales on tap, plus seafood and curry specialities, all served up on a lovely little spot on the Caledonian canal, there’s a great atmosphere on-board. If the midges aren’t biting, there’s also an outside seating area to be enjoyed.
