Max and Paddy
Congratulations to #EverestAnywhere ambassadors Max and Paddy, who have topped out on their first Everest this year!
When the two famous spaniels started their challenge, owner Kerry Irving wasn’t to know that Max was to need major orthopaedic surgery on his elbow just weeks into the venture. So just as Max helped Kerry through his rehab all those years ago after a road accident, Kerry had months of rehabilitation to help Max through. The odds of completing the challenge were stacked against the trio, with walks limited, doggy stomach bugs and the heat soaring over summer.
Through gradual walks up easier, grassier fells, Max slowly improved and their latest hill, Bleaberry Fell, smashed through their 8848m target. In reality, however, the dogs probably reached their Everest a long time ago. A walk around Mungrisdale was 9.8 miles for Kerry. Paddy meanwhile clocked 24.9 miles on his Garmin Foretrex, with a top speed of 27.9mph!
