Monyash to Birchover
SK150665 Walk 1 west along the front of The Bulls Head Inn and take the first road right, keeping right where it forks later then, shortly after passing a farm track on your left, take the footpath north-east across fields, passing through a narrow woodland plantation to emerge on to a minor road. Go right and follow the road past the junction for Sheldon then a little further on take the footpath generally east to Magpie Mine.
SK172681 From 2 Magpie Mine take the footpath north towards Sheldon. Where the path intersects another go north-east along the wall until you meet the main road through Sheldon. Go right and follow the road around the bend then take the footpath left down a shallow valley and enter woodland through a gate. Follow the footpath down through the woodland, passing a small cave on your right. At the junction with another path, go right continuing down through the wood to cross a wooden stile into open fields. Continue down the field then turn right and follow the riverside path to a minor road. Turn left along the road and then right at the junction with the A6. Walk along the A6 until you come to the packhorse bridge into Ashford in the Water. Cross the bridge and walk into the village.
Turn right and walk past the church and the Ashford Arms. Turn right at the fork and at the next junction turn right then left until you meet the A6 again.
3 SK199694 At the junction take the footpath on the left across fields keeping the River Wye on your left. Follow the footpath through houses, across a road and field to the A6. Cross the A6 and take the footpath up through woodland, then across a field to a minor road. Turn left down the road and follow its course into Bakewell arriving at The Rutland Arms Hotel. SK217685 Head 4 north-east along the A619 and take the first right, Water Street, following it to Granby Croft then across the footbridge to the Cattle Market. Go right and follow the footpath through the showground, keeping the River Wye on your right until you reach a minor road. Go right then immediately left and follow the footpath to the A6 by Haddon Hall. Go left along the A6 and at the entrance to Haddon Hall cross the road and go through the farm gate. Take the left-hand footpath south up the hillside to the edge of woodland then diagonally left across a field to the edge of a quarry. Descend through woodland and take the road straight ahead south.
5 SK231647 Immediately after the junction take the footpath left through woodland to enter a tree -lined lane. Walk up the lane until you arrive at the junction of four field boundaries, then take the footpath right to a minor road. Go left up the road to enter the village of Stanton in the Peak by The Flying Childers Inn. Follow the road up to the right of the pub and just after the road passes through woodland arrive at Stanton Moor.
SK246641 Go right 6 and follow the footpath past the Nine Ladies stone circle, then around to the Cork Stone. Carry on generally west down the footpath until you reach a minor road. Go left, then just after the entrance to Birchover Quarry go right following the footpath down through woodland to emerge opposite at the Druid Inn.
