SK150665 Walk 1 west along the front of The Bulls Head Inn and take the first road right, keep­ing right where it forks later then, shortly after pass­ing a farm track on your left, take the foot­path north-east across fields, pass­ing through a nar­row wood­land plan­ta­tion to emerge on to a mi­nor road. Go right and fol­low the road past the junc­tion for Shel­don then a lit­tle fur­ther on take the foot­path gen­er­ally east to Mag­pie Mine.

SK172681 From 2 Mag­pie Mine take the foot­path north to­wards Shel­don. Where the path in­ter­sects an­other go north-east along the wall un­til you meet the main road through Shel­don. Go right and fol­low the road around the bend then take the foot­path left down a shal­low val­ley and en­ter wood­land through a gate. Fol­low the foot­path down through the wood­land, pass­ing a small cave on your right. At the junc­tion with an­other path, go right con­tin­u­ing down through the wood to cross a wooden stile into open fields. Con­tinue down the field then turn right and fol­low the river­side path to a mi­nor road. Turn left along the road and then right at the junc­tion with the A6. Walk along the A6 un­til you come to the pack­horse bridge into Ash­ford in the Wa­ter. Cross the bridge and walk into the vil­lage.

Turn right and walk past the church and the Ash­ford Arms. Turn right at the fork and at the next junc­tion turn right then left un­til you meet the A6 again.

3 SK199694 At the junc­tion take the foot­path on the left across fields keep­ing the River Wye on your left. Fol­low the foot­path through houses, across a road and field to the A6. Cross the A6 and take the foot­path up through wood­land, then across a field to a mi­nor road. Turn left down the road and fol­low its course into Bakewell ar­riv­ing at The Rut­land Arms Ho­tel. SK217685 Head 4 north-east along the A619 and take the first right, Wa­ter Street, fol­low­ing it to Granby Croft then across the foot­bridge to the Cat­tle Mar­ket. Go right and fol­low the foot­path through the show­ground, keep­ing the River Wye on your right un­til you reach a mi­nor road. Go right then im­me­di­ately left and fol­low the foot­path to the A6 by Had­don Hall. Go left along the A6 and at the en­trance to Had­don Hall cross the road and go through the farm gate. Take the left-hand foot­path south up the hill­side to the edge of wood­land then di­ag­o­nally left across a field to the edge of a quarry. De­scend through wood­land and take the road straight ahead south.

5 SK231647 Im­me­di­ately after the junc­tion take the foot­path left through wood­land to en­ter a tree -lined lane. Walk up the lane un­til you ar­rive at the junc­tion of four field bound­aries, then take the foot­path right to a mi­nor road. Go left up the road to en­ter the vil­lage of Stan­ton in the Peak by The Fly­ing Childers Inn. Fol­low the road up to the right of the pub and just after the road passes through wood­land ar­rive at Stan­ton Moor.

SK246641 Go right 6 and fol­low the foot­path past the Nine Ladies stone cir­cle, then around to the Cork Stone. Carry on gen­er­ally west down the foot­path un­til you reach a mi­nor road. Go left, then just after the en­trance to Bir­chover Quarry go right fol­low­ing the foot­path down through wood­land to emerge op­po­site at the Druid Inn.
