HEAD UNDERGROUND AT CATHEDRAL CAVE

Trail (UK) - - ROUTES -

This month’s Walk of a Lifetime over the celebrated Langdale Pikes takes in some classic overground Lakeland landscapes. But venture deep underground in Little Langdale and you’ll find the impressive Cathedral Cave. Although the caves are actually man-made – a leftover from the green slate quarrying – they are still quite the marvel, and you can’t help but be wowed by the National Trust site, which is popular with climbers. You’ll need a torch and there’s safety info at the entrance. Find them at grid ref NY314029. www.visitcumbria.com/amb/ cathedral-cave/
