I first reviewed these back in May 2016, but I returned to them in 2018 – and have stuck with them ever since. Made with synthetic materials throughout, the upper of these fairly lightweight boots (1390g, size 11) is made from a welded Thermoplastic, so there is virtually no seam to break. The tongue is synthetic fabric, while a rubber rand protects the toe and forefoot areas. The sole is a very aggressive Vibram Mulaz unit and there’s a Gore-Tex waterproof lining inside. In use they’ve moulded nicely to my feet and are continuing to provide a trusted traction to the ground. They perform really well on general paths over moors or fells and have done loads of Munros – I’ve even used them for scrambles too. The upper and sole are slightly softer than more dedicated scrambling boots, so rockier ground isn’t their ideal territory, though they are perfectly capable of getting you across the rocks unscathed. But what has impressed me most is that they’re turning out to be very durable, with absolutely no hint of wear or materials coming apart. A great boot for general moor, fell and mountain walking, I’m going to keep using them for trips over Lakeland fells and Scottish Munros.

VERDICT

Reasonably lightweight boot that proves synthetic materials when combined with modern welded technology can produce a durable boot ideal for moorland, hill and mountains.
