ANTHONY ROBIN

2nd place With almost 1000 public votes, this frozen capture of the Red Cuillin from Blabheinn on the Isle of Skye snatched a worthy 2nd place.

Anthony says: “The shot was taken on an early morning last winter. My plan was to go to the summit of Blabheinn. Halfway up, I stopped for a biscuit break, looked around and I saw this fantastic light and cloud coming in. I rushed to grab the camera. It was windy and snowy, and I had to clean the filter a few times between the gusts. The light was absolutely gorgeous! It was soft and diffused because of the heavy clouds coming towards me. Everything came together for me to press the shutter – I was there at the right moment. A few minutes later the light was gone. I ended up turning back soon after as the wind was picking up way too fast for my liking!”

A good photograph evokes emotion, and by just looking at this picture I can almost feel the cold and would love to be there to experience the scene.
