COULD I CLIMB IT? Sgurr Dearg is the only Munro that requires a rock climb (up The Inaccessible Pinnacle) to reach the summit. The East Ridge is the most common route up and is classed as a ‘moderate rock climb’. In calm, dry conditions the technicality won’t trouble experienced scramblers, but the exposure is HUGE. It’s like climbing a step ladder with a cliff edge falling away on either side. You’ll need ropes, helmets, harnesses and the experience to use them to attempt the In Pinn by yourself. We recommend hiring a qualified guide.
