Do the double

Montane Pertex Microlight Jacket £n/a

-

I have two Montane Pertex Microlight jackets/mid layers. I’ve no idea what their precise name is (they are that old), all I know is I like them. I like them a lot. I also don’t recall why I ended up with two, but I did and it didn’t take me long to see how useful they would be, so I decided to ‘alter’ one of them. This involved cutting off the arms to make a gilet – a much better option when mobility is the order of the day. I run hot, so a gilet is also much more me. The body section has a small amount of insulation. The hood and arms are stretchy and fleece lined. They’re slim enough to fit underneath a waterproof jacket, the hood fits under a helmet, or the hood of the waterproof, easily, keeping close to the body for a super snug experience. The only downside is with the hood up on its own, you look like a right knob! FYI the nearest version now is the Montane Prism Jacket (£125).

Verdict

I’ve worn these to death, yet still they go on, seemingly indestructible. I just wish they still made them, but that’s progress for you.
