WALKING HELPED US!

-

BRIAN SINCLAIR

“When I stopped playing football at 33, I put weight on fairly fast. I started to feel depressed and drink a lot more than I should. My partner’s uncle suggested that I go with him to climb Ben Lomond. I hated every step, but once I had summited I felt such a sense of achievement. I am now on 98 Munros. When I’m out on the hills my troubles and worries disappear, even if just for a while.”

ELIZABETH ASAD

“I love that fact that I can involve the kids. Exploring and being outside instils a lifelong sense of adventure. It’s definitely fun for the whole family.”

TONY OOTNABOOT

“After a lifetime of battles with my mental health I finally found peace with myself when I started enjoying the mountains. Adventures and mountain days are by far the most powerful remedy for keeping my mental health and wellbeing in check.”

CESALTINA DA CUNHA

“When you reach the summit you experience one of those rare moments when you know, really know, that life is not guaranteed and that we venture into nature not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.”

GARY TRISTAN

“Walking is a chance to get away from the stress of modern life. Sat in the middle of Dartmoor on a wild camp allows me to become one with nature. There is nothing quite like it. My wife thinks I am mad, particularly when it’s cold and wet, but could not think of anything better.”

MELANIE BEASLEY

“After a career break living and working in Banff National Park, we caught the hiking and camping bug. We decided that on return to the UK we’d do what we could to get a bit of that lifestyle into our everyday. In 2013, we made the leap and moved to the Peak District… and we haven’t looked back!”
