Klättermusen Allgrön 2.0 £450
Comfortable, good fit, eco credentials, solid performance Expensive, heavy, weird cuff adjustment
Bombproof and well-executed, the Klättermusen Allgrön 2.0 – the second generation of the Swedish mountaineering brand’s best-selling 4-season jacket – is a premium offering. It feels rugged and robust, yet light and mobile enough for high-intensity mountain antics. Made from Ultramid Biomass Balance, a polyamide derived from renewable resources, the Allgrön 2.0’s 3-layer construction is stretchy, comfy and near-silent in use – with good eco credentials too. There’s a 20,000mm HH and 20,000g/ m²/24hr breathability rating, and all of the usual features you’d expect (adjustable hood with peak, mesh-lined pockets, fully taped seams and waist hem tightening). The best feature is the generously-sized exterior stormflap, which – coupled with an additional interior stormflap and press stud buttons – seals the front opening with a double barrier. Other nice touches include Duracoat reinforcements to increase durability, the way the hood moves with the head thanks to the integrated forehead panel, and the in-built RECCO reflector (a nifty safety device that enables you to be detected by an avalanche receiver). Cons are the rather hefty weight, the strange wrist cuff adjustment via toggles and the price tag.
