Stylish, excellent HH rating, good features, lightweight Expensive, crinkly

With a 28,000mm HH – joint second highest on test – this jacket’s waterproof credentials are undoubted. This top-notch rating comes via the use of Gore-Tex Pro, the membrane specialist’s most rugged and protective product. The result is a jacket that’s durably waterproof with a strong, sturdy build, despite being impressively lightweight. At 410g, it feels more streamlined than many other jackets. As you’d expect with the rather eyewatering price tag, features are impressive too. The collar is high for good face coverage, while the hood is fully adjustable and helmet compatible. You get huge underarm zips for temperature regulation, wrist cuffs with Velcro adjustment and two drawcords for cinching tight at the hem. There is good coverage over the bum, ensuring precipitation doesn’t annoyingly drain into the crotch area as with shorter jackets, and two hand pockets and one chest pocket provide ample space for anything you want to stash away. The Vision zippers used feel burly and the main zip features an internal stormflap, zipper garage and excellent toggle. On top of all of this, you get that added touch of style and flair Adidas Terrex brings to the outdoor market. The only gripe is the way the jacket crinkles noisily as you move.
