RHIW YR YSGYFARNOG

-

EASY ■ 3 hours ■ 7.2km ■ 615m ascent

Start Taf Fechan, grid ref SO035174 Terrain Grassy hillside, broad ridge

Follow the road to the waterworks buildings at the Lower Neuadd Reservoir (recently drained in a project to restore the valley’s water source to its natural state). Join a track which ascends, left, along the northern edge of woodland to gain a broad ridge near the minor summit of Twyn Mwyalchod. Continue north along the ridge, climbing gently, across a narrowing of the ridge (Rhiw yr Ysgyfarnog) to the unmarked top of Craig Gwaun Taf. A short descent leads to Bwlch Duwynt, meets Route 4, then heads north-east to Pen y Fan.
