WALK IT

-

The Great Gable Climbers’ Traverse is as fine a ‘path’ as you’ll find anywhere in the Lakes. Starting in the green folds of the Wasdale Valley, it visits the historic Sty Head Pass, then cuts directly across the broken crags and steep scree gullies that define the complex southern face of the mountain. You’ll pass the rock tower of Napes Needle en route, with the option to squeeze behind it on an awkward Grade 2 scramble, then shortly after come face to face with the mighty Sphinx as you keep traversing west. You’ll know it as soon as you see it!
