NY177170 Head north-easterly up the Newlands Hause road. Take a path by a pull in right signposted ‘Robinson 1.5 miles’. Climb the zigzag path to round the head of a gill higher up. Climb beyond, following the path past High Snockrigg. Continue easterly dipping to cross Buttermere Moss and stay ahead to follow the rising path beyond, curving left across the face of Robinson. Continue beyond, following the path to the twin rock outcrops on Robinson summit.

NY201168 Take the path southerly to a fence. Go left, descending by it to a col at Littledale Edge. Continue by the fence to fork left at a path junction by a tall fence post. Climb north easterly to stay ahead at a path junction to reach the summit of Hindscarth (NY215165). Head southerly along the ridge, forking left at a junction. Descend to go left at a junction. Rise past a line of fence posts to reach Dale Head summit (NY223153). Descend southerly past cairns to follow a fence. Lower down cross the fence via a stile and continue down the other side of it to reach Honister Pass.

NY225135 Go right down the road to go left into Honister Quarry car park. Go right past the buildings to take a track, cutting left on rougher path at a Mountain Rescue cairn. Rise to the Drum House remains (NY215134). Take a path right to reach a quarry track. Go left to reach a small cairn (NY214136). Here take the left of two paths to pass right of spoil heaps. Follow the rising path, staying ahead at a cairned junction right. Continue to Fleetwith Pike summit.

NY205141 Take the path southeaste­rly towards Dubs Quarry (visible) staying left at a junction lower down. Head towards spoil heaps to go left on a joining path. Follow the main path to fork right at a cairn and minor junction. Descend the path to go left of spoil heaps continuing towards more spoil heaps. Descend into Dubs Quarry to reach a good track (NY210134). Go right, cutting left down a track directly after

Dubs Bothy.

At the slope bottom go right to cross a stream. Take the rising path beyond to a cairned path junction left. Stay ahead, following the ridge path westerly as it rises and falls, and pass Blackbeck Tarn and Innominate Tarn. Rise beyond to curve left and right beneath Haystacks summit. Curve right again as Crummock Water comes into view. As the angle eases, zigzag to Haystacks summit.

NY193131 From the second summit cairn drop left, going right of a tarn and a rocky rib. At a cairn follow the

descending path roughly over scrambly sections to reach the cairned path crossroads at Scarth Gap (NY189133). Go right, descending through a gate to pass a plantation. Go ahead at the forest corner descending to go left on a track. Follow this to the end of Buttermere and continue north to reach Buttermere village. Pass through the village to go right at a road junction, passing a white building and Sykes Farm. Go left at the next junction (signposted ‘Keswick’) back to the parking area.
