Start Car park on A896, grid ref NG957569 Terrain Steep-sided glen, moorland, hanging corrie, scree, high mountain ridge

This direct ascent of the west face of Ruadh-stac Mhor delivers dramatic scenery that rewards the slog up the final summit screes. From the car park, follow the Coire Dubh Mor path north-west until it forks by the lochans below Sail Mhor. Take the right branch and follow it as it skirts around

the north side of Sail Mhor and climbs to the side of Loch Coire Mhic Fhearchair. From the lochside, climb directly east to the summit of Ruadh-stac Mor. Head south from the summit and follow the narrowing summit over a col to join the main ridge at the eastern end of Coinneach Mhor (the col can also be reached by climbing south-east direct from Loch Coire Mhic Fhearchair). Follow the main ridge south-east, then east, to the summit of Spidean Coire nan Clach.
