HELLY HANSEN POWER AIR HEAT GRID JACKET £150
One of the major drawbacks of synthetic fleece is that it can shed tiny fibres whenever you wear it or wash it, contributing to the problem of microplastic pollution. This jacket uses Polartec’s new Power Air fabric to overcome that issue. The loose insulating fibres are housed in tiny pockets, preventing shedding while also trapping air to generate warmth. It is made from recycled polyester too, which has a little stretch for comfort and further strengthens its eco credentials. Plus there are zipped hand pockets and thumb loops at the cuffs.
VERDICT A nicely fitting fleece jacket. Doesn’t offer quite the same warmth for weight as high-loft fleece, but that seems a small price to pay for a greener garment.
