Daypacks – I’ve tried all sorts. But the Tempest has been by far the best fit for my 5ft 4in frame. The Airspace back fits snugly and allows free movement of my body and head. It balances the weight nicely, making lighter work of my load. The new, updated version for spring 2021 uses Bluesign-certified recycled nylon and has had a few design tweaks. It’s hard to improve on perfection though, and unfortunately even though there is now an adjustable small and large size option, it just doesn’t fit me so well as my old one.

VERDICT A versatile pack with everything the hillwalker could need, and its available in men’s, women’s and kids’ sizes – from 6 to 55 litres. But try before you buy if you liked the fit of previous versions.
