Patagonia Point Peak Trail Pants £130

-

I’ll get the ‘green’ stuff out of the way first (it’s not that it’s not important, but it’s pretty much a given with Patagonia)... The Point Peak Trail Pants are 90% recycled, Fairtrade sewn and use a PFC-free DWR. Which is all marvellous but the thing I really like about these is that they’re excellent trousers. They’re tough yet comfortable, warm yet breathable, and have some great trouser features. The ankle cuffs have centre-front lace hook to stop them riding up, while the combination of velcro tabs on the cuffs and waist ensure a good, streamlined fit – helped by the slim non-flapping leg tailoring.

There are plenty of pockets and the material feels tough enough to cope with abuse. I’ve walked high fells, tramped wild moorland, and scrambled gritstone outcrops in these trousers and appreciated them a little more with each outing. They might be a bit too warm for the height of summer, but I hope not because I really like wearing them.

Verdict

Rapidly becoming my new favourite trousers. USED BY Ben Weeks, Trail senior writer USED for 3 months
