HOW MANY HAVE YOU CLIMBED?

“88 My favourite was An Teallach. The hardest was probably Sgurr Fhuaran, a brutal flog in appalling weather.”

■ JOHN BATES

“60 Mostly in Snowdonia and the Lake District. It’s hard to pick a favourite but I was quite emotional walking up Suilven last year after years of wanting to go there. The hardest was probably Braeriach, not a difficult walk just a long walk-in. It is awesome though.”

■ SHARON DEBORAH

“50 I think. Need some more time in England and Wales! Hard to beat Foinaven, most northerly peak here.”

■ KATHRYN GOODENOUGH

“68 An Teallach was hard won because the weather forecast turned out to be wrong and we ended up in thick mist on soapy spring snow feeling our way over Lord Berkeley’s Seat. Couldn’t see our own feet, not to mention the bottom below...”

■ SABINE NOLTE

“11 so far. Not too bad, especially when I live in Cornwall.” ■ ROB CAUSTON

“38 Would’ve been 39 but failed on An Teallach after gaining Sail Liath in low cloud, then realising

I’d left my compass in the car. So for better judgement, left it alone and came back down. The only peak I’ve attempted and not gained.”

■ CRAIG TIPTON

“21 A few completed several times. The hardest was at 3am on Snowdon on the Three Peaks Challenge. Been up there several times but my brain was telling my body and stomach it wasn’t acceptable to be there at that time. I did get a mahoosive pint of tea at Pete’s Eats the following morning though.”

■ SAM DIXON

“54 with Sgùrr Alasdair on Skye being both my favourite and the hardest one so far.” ■ JOHN SAMSON
