THIS GIRL CAN!
Hats off to Cumbrian vet Sabrina Verjee who has set a new fastest known time, male or female, for a continuous round of the Lake District’s 214 Wainwright peaks on her fourth attempt. After 325 miles and 36,000m of ascent, she completed the challenge in a staggering five days, 23 hours and 49 minutes, just over six hours faster than the previous record. Sabrina, who in 2020 became the first woman to run all the Wainwrights, said: “It has been brilliant to spend even more time out on the glorious Lakeland fells in the company of good friends. And if what I have done inspires more people – especially girls and women – to get out there and challenge themselves, then that’s an added bonus.”
