Warm-weather merino
Fi■dra Isla Merino-Lite Vest Top £40
Scottish merino-specialist brand Findra was founded by an Innerleithen-based fashion designer who realised that performance outdoor clothing that looked good was in short supply. This two-tone vest top is one example of its women’s range. I really put it through its paces on a recent hot and sweaty backpacking trip, where I wore it for two big mountain days on the trot. Merino isn’t a fabric that you’d usually associate with warmer weather, but this Merino-Lite, blended with nylon, is lightweight, breathable and fast-drying. But maybe most importantly of all on multi-day trips, it didn’t get smelly! I love the colours, it’s machine washable and it feels comfy and soft against the skin too. The men’s version is the short-sleeve Raasay Merino-Lite Enduro (£70).
Verdict
Ethically-sourced merino-blend top that’s perfect for warm weather adventures.
