Chee Dale Gorge
SK137732 Head 1 west along the Monsal Trail from Millers Dale Station. After crossing the viaduct, take the footpath on the left.
SK130733 Ascend 2 woodland to open fields and follow the marker posts across a
stream and up to the road. Go left then cross and walk up Long Lane to a minor road.
SK133717 Go right, 3 through Priestcliffe Ditch, and take the footpath on the left south across fields aiming for the A6 by the woodland. Cross the A6 bearing right to Senners Lane. Follow it south-west to a road. Go straight on and turn left through a gate before the recycling facility. Walk south until you reach four signposts on Pillwell Lane.
SK120705 Go 4 south-west down the first bridleway to Chelmorton by the Church Inn. Pass the pub and take the first right.
SK114702 Go along 5 the track to pass Shepley Farm, then take
the next left along a walled lane to a sharp right turn.
SK108701 Do not 6 follow the lane right but go over the stone stile ahead and cross fields to a small copse. Enter a walled lane via a gate to reach the A5270. Go left and where the road bends cross and go between chevron road signs, then over a stone stile, and follow the path southwest across the fields to rejoin the road. Walk right to a sharp bend and turn right into Horseshoe Dale.
SK099697 Look at 7 the caves up Bullhay Dale before going north to Deep Dale. Cross a fence and stile into the nature reserve, passing Thirst House cave on right.
SK096713 At a 8 smaller cave above, ascend the zigzag path past the cave to a gate at the top. Go south-east across fields to a walled lane. Go left then right at the lane junction and follow this to the A5270. Turn left a few metres on.
SK108706 Take the 9 next footpath north over fields to descend a wide dale to a stile giving access to Churn Hole.
SK104720 Take 10 care descending by Churn Hole, it can be slippery when wet. Follow the path down to the valley floor and on to the A6 at Wye Dale. Cross the road into the car park to join the trail running east alongside the River Wye.
SK103724 Follow 11 the tarmac lane east to Blackwell Cycle Hire.
SK111726 Cross the 12 bridge to Blackwell Cottages and turn right along the bank of the River Wye. Follow the river downstream, taking the right-hand path where it splits with the Pennine Bridleway. At the viaduct do not cross the bridge but go left down steps to reach the first set of stepping-stones on the river. (If the river is too high, return to Blackwell Cycle Hire and turn left to follow the Monsal Trail back to Millers Dale Station). At the end of the stepping-stones go across a wooden bridge and under a viaduct, then back across a second bridge to join the second set of stepping-stones. Follow the path downstream to the viaduct crossed at the beginning of the walk.
SK130733 Go left up 13 the steps before the viaduct to rejoin the Monsal Trail. Turn right and walk past the limestone kilns to return to Millers Dale Station.
