My feet have been a lifetime’s pain in my butt, as they’re a size 9½ and narrow. So the key for me is getting a pair with a lacing system that makes them hug my whole foot. Although these are aimed at running, which I do, I actually needed these purely so I could go out and about off-road. They also fit my criteria of a lowish cut around the achilles – so many hill shoes have a higher cut, and it bloody well hurts! So these have proved winners on all fronts – great fit, good grip on rock and a decent toe bumper. Success!

Airy for the summer months, but I could do with the Gore-Tex version pronto.
