Trail (UK)

IS IT FOR ME?

-

FITNESS Quite a demanding day’s walk, with over 950m of ascent and descent through some rugged, rocky terrain when the walk out to Sligachan is factored in.

TERRAIN The route is well-defined to begin with, pathless in places, traversing rough and rocky terrain, including scree slopes, though any scrambling can easily be avoided. Some steep ground poses no great challenge in dry conditions. But in wet or wintry conditions it can be treacherous. NAVIGATION

The route from Sligachan as far as Fionn Choire is very clear. Thereafter the trodden path is mostly clear, but care is required with route-finding in poor visibility – especially once atop the Bealach na Lice with a risk of becoming crag bound if you wander off the ridge.
