LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES...
James Forrest: “At 4am, one stormy night in the Brecon Beacons back in 2017, a rough night of wild camping turned into a disastrous one. My tent, after hours of howling winds and horizontal rain, finally gave up. The central pole buckled, collapsing the tent into a flimsy, spineless mess, and I effectively woke up face-down in a squelchy, muddy, dank-smelling quagmire. My choice of wild camp spot – high, on an exposed ridge, across flat ground with poor drainage, and with a rather apocalyptic blizzard on the way – was a schoolboy error. Ever since then, I've vowed to choose my camping location very, very carefully.”
