DAY 1

1 NC194600 From the car park by Blairmore, walk just over 1km back along the road to reach the start of the track, on the left, leading to Loch Mor a’ Chraisg and beyond to Strathan Bothy. After 1km fork right off the main track to follow an intermittent and often boggy footpath leading to Loch Mor a’ Chraisg and its smaller satellite.

2 NC224604 Beyond the lochs the path improves as it continues towards Strathan, descending into Strath Shinary. Where the path reaches the Abhainn an t-Srathain you can cross directly if the river is quiet otherwise there is a wire bridge 200m to the north-west. Strathan Bothy is a former shepherd’s cottage with three rooms and a working fireplace – though fuel has to be carried in.
