■ TEAM TACKLES MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS

Meet the Yoker Athletic Under-16s team from Clydebank, who are wearing the Mountains for the Mind logo as their shirt sponsor this season. The idea came from the team’s coaches, Michael Casey and Brian Sinclair, who are both keen hillwalkers and wanted to promote mental health awareness in the local community. As a team, Yoker Athletic have been doing their bit too, including going out on the streets to support homeless people and discussing the stigma surrounding homelessness. They also recently climbed their local Munro, Ben Lomond, as a team. Coach Michael says: “We got talking about the young ones and how they’re struggling with their mental health through this pandemic. The Mountains for the Mind Facebook group has made a massive difference to my mindset, reading stories and realising that lots of people feel the same. I’ve completed over

100 Munros now. It’s amazing what challenging yourself can do for your wellbeing.”
