3 MORE FAMILY PEAKS
▲ Roseberry Topping, North York Moors
North Yorkshire’s most famous hill is a family classic, located a short drive from Middlesbrough on the northern fringes of the North York Moors. Surrounded by woodland, wildlife and historical monuments, this is a cracking peak for young hillwalkers.
▲ Sugar Loaf, Brecon Beacons
Rising above the south Wales market town of Abergavenny at the eastern gateway to the Brecon Beacons, at 596m Sugar Loaf looks like a proper mountain but with a very straightforward ascent. You can even park over halfway up to give little legs a break!
▲ Kinder Scout, Peak District
The wild and often bleak plateau of the Peak District’s highest hill can be an unforgiving place, but the ascent from Kinder Reservoir, up past the spectacular waterfall of Kinder Downfall is a cracker. And easy to reach from Manchester.
