WHAT TO DO IF… YOU RUN OUT OF WATER
I’ve only a little bit of water left but it’s a long way home Okay, do you have any food with a high water content? Yup, an apple and an orange Perfect, that’s another source of hydration. Any salty food? Salt? Isn’t that dehydrating? When you sweat you also lose important electrolytes and salts which inhibits your body’s ability to regulate liquids. Normal food like nuts and raisins are good enough. I’m flagging and starting to get a headache

Find a fast-running stream and a comfy place to rest. Can I drink this?
If it’s fast running, clear and you’re on the hill – not in farmland, a field with animals, or near a residence – you’ll probably be alright. Check 10m upstream for pollutants and drink from as high as poss.
Should I carry a water filter next time?
You could do. In a place with abundant water supplies it might even lower the amount of water weight you’re carrying because you can simply top up as you go.
